Ingredients
Scale
serves 6-8
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup condensed milk (plus extra for brushing)
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and the yeast mixture. Add the egg and condensed milk, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough: On a lightly floured surface or with a stand mixer using a dough hook, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes, gradually adding the softened butter, until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape the dough: Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball or desired shape and arrange in a greased loaf pan or baking dish.
- Second rise: Cover and let the dough rise again for 30-40 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush and bake: Brush the top of the bread with condensed milk for a golden, glossy finish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and serve: Let the bread cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy the heavenly softness!
