Description

Rich, fudgy brownies topped with creamy homemade chocolate frosting—classic, decadent, and irresistibly easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Frosting:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk (or heavy cream)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Make the Brownie Batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and cocoa powder until smooth.
    • Add the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
    • Gradually fold in the flour and salt until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
  • Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Prepare the Frosting:
    • While the brownies are baking, beat the softened butter and cocoa powder together in a medium bowl until smooth.
    • Add the milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, and mix until the frosting is creamy and spreadable. Adjust with a little more milk if needed.
  • Frost the Brownies:
    • Once the brownies are done, let them cool for about 10 minutes.
    • Spread the frosting over the warm brownies for a glossy finish.
  • Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool completely before slicing into squares.
