For the Crust:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
- ¾ cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Filling:
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup ricotta cheese
- ½ cup pepperoni slices (or any preferred topping)
- ½ cup cooked Italian sausage (optional)
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
- Mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
- Add warm water and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat & Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out ⅔ of the dough and press it into a greased deep-dish pie pan.
- Roll out the remaining dough for the top crust.
Assemble the Pizza Pie:
- Layer half the mozzarella and cheddar cheese on the bottom.
- Add pizza sauce, pepperoni, sausage, ricotta, and seasonings.
- Top with the remaining cheese.
- Cover with the top crust, sealing the edges. Cut slits on top for steam release.
Bake & Serve:
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then slice and enjoy!
Notes
- Swap ricotta for cottage cheese for a lighter option.
- Add mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers for extra flavor.
