Description

Honey fig jam & cottage cheese toast with walnuts on sourdough—an elegant, high-protein breakfast or brunch that’s simple, healthy, and naturally sweetened.


Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons walnuts, toasted and finely chopped

  • 1 slice artisan sourdough bread or your favorite rustic loaf

  • 1/4 cup high-quality cottage cheese, preferably whole milk for richness

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons fig jam (look for one with minimal added sugars)

  •  

  • A light drizzle of raw honey or hot honey, to taste


Instructions

  • Toast walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring often, for 3–5 minutes until fragrant and golden. Chop and set aside.

  • Toast the sourdough slice to desired crispness using a toaster or grill pan.

  • Spread cottage cheese evenly across toast, creating gentle ridges.

  • Dollop fig jam on top and swirl it lightly into the cheese.

 

  • Drizzle with honey and sprinkle over chopped toasted walnuts.

  • Substitute sourdough with multigrain or gluten-free bread if desired.
  • Add fresh figs or a sprinkle of cinnamon for an extra touch.
