Homemade Classic Pizza with Easy 6-Ingredient Dough

Description

Homemade classic pizza with a chewy, golden crust made from 6 simple ingredients—perfectly topped and baked for a delicious family pizza night!


Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2½ cups warm water

  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • 6 to cups all-purpose flour

For the Pizza:

  • 2 cups pizza sauce

  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Assorted toppings (pepperoni, veggies, herbs, etc.)


Instructions

  • Make the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

    • Gradually stir in flour, one cup at a time, until a sticky dough forms.

    • Knead on a floured surface for 6–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    • Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 15–60 minutes.

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Set oven to 500°F (260°C).

    • Preheat pizza stone for 30 minutes or baking sheet for 10 minutes.

  • Shape & Top Pizza:

    • Divide dough into 2 equal portions. Roll one half on parchment into a 12–14 inch circle.

    • Spread with 1 cup of pizza sauce, then top with 1½–2 cups mozzarella and toppings of your choice.

  • Bake:

    • Transfer parchment and pizza onto the preheated stone or sheet.

    • Bake for 10–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

    • Remove carefully and let cool slightly before slicing.

 

  • Repeat:

    • Let pizza stone reheat for 10 minutes if needed, then repeat with remaining dough and toppings.

Notes

  • Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
  • Add herbs like basil or oregano after baking for extra flavor.
  • Customize toppings to suit your favorite pizza style!
