Mini French dip sliders with Hawaiian rolls, roast beef, cheese, and caramelized onions, served with jus—perfect for parties or family meal!
Ingredients
Scale
For the sliders:
- 1 package Hawaiian butter rolls
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon horseradish
- ½ pound provolone or Swiss cheese
- ½ pound deli roast beef
- ½ cup caramelized onions
For the butter topping:
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
For the au jus dipping sauce:
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1½ tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1–2 teaspoons beef base
- Fresh thyme (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the rolls: Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them intact. Place the bottom half on a baking sheet and briefly toast under the broiler.
- Make horseradish mayo: Mix mayonnaise and horseradish, then spread over the toasted bottom rolls.
- Assemble the sliders: Layer half of the cheese, roast beef, caramelized onions, and the remaining cheese. Place the top rolls back on.
- Prepare butter topping: Combine melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder. Brush over the top of the rolls. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.
- Bake the sliders: Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 5–8 minutes until golden brown.
- Make the au jus: Melt butter in a saucepan. Sauté garlic until fragrant, then whisk in flour to make a roux. Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, beef base, and thyme. Simmer until slightly thickened. Strain for a smooth sauce.
- Serve: Cut sliders into individual portions and serve warm with the au jus for dipping.
Notes
- Swap Swiss for provolone or mozzarella for different flavors.
- Toasting the rolls first prevents sogginess.
- Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the oven for the best texture.
