Description

Mini French dip sliders with Hawaiian rolls, roast beef, cheese, and caramelized onions, served with jus—perfect for parties or family meal!

Ingredients

Scale

For the sliders:

  • 1 package Hawaiian butter rolls
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish
  • ½ pound provolone or Swiss cheese
  • ½ pound deli roast beef
  • ½ cup caramelized onions

For the butter topping:

  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

For the au jus dipping sauce:

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1½ tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 12 teaspoons beef base
  • Fresh thyme (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the rolls: Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them intact. Place the bottom half on a baking sheet and briefly toast under the broiler.
  • Make horseradish mayo: Mix mayonnaise and horseradish, then spread over the toasted bottom rolls.
  • Assemble the sliders: Layer half of the cheese, roast beef, caramelized onions, and the remaining cheese. Place the top rolls back on.
  • Prepare butter topping: Combine melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder. Brush over the top of the rolls. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.
  • Bake the sliders: Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 5–8 minutes until golden brown.
  • Make the au jus: Melt butter in a saucepan. Sauté garlic until fragrant, then whisk in flour to make a roux. Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, beef base, and thyme. Simmer until slightly thickened. Strain for a smooth sauce.

  • Serve: Cut sliders into individual portions and serve warm with the au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • Swap Swiss for provolone or mozzarella for different flavors.
  • Toasting the rolls first prevents sogginess.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the oven for the best texture.
