Description

Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf slow-cooked to perfection, topped with caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese for a rich, savory flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 large sweet onions, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Caramelize the Onions: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Mix the Meatloaf: In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.
  • Shape the Meatloaf: Form the mixture into a loaf and place it in the crockpot.
  • Top with Onions: Spread caramelized onions over the meatloaf.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Add Cheese: Sprinkle Swiss cheese on top 15 minutes before serving, then cover to melt.
  • Rest and Slice: Carefully lift the meatloaf from the crockpot and let it rest before slicing.
  • Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes
