Crispy fried wontons filled with creamy cheesecake and topped with sweet, fresh strawberry sauce—a delicious treat for dessert lovers!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Strawberry Sauce:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries, thawed
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 6 large fresh strawberries, diced
  • Red food coloring (optional)

For the Cheesecake Filling:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Wontons:

  • 30 (2-inch square) wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Sauce:
    • In a small saucepan, combine thawed strawberries and 3 tablespoons of water.
    • In a separate bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cornstarch; add this mixture to the saucepan and stir until dissolved.
    • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until thickened and clear. If desired, add a drop of red food coloring.
    • Pour the cooked strawberry mixture over the diced fresh strawberries in a bowl and stir to combine.
  2. Make the Cheesecake Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, ½ cup sugar, and flour until smooth.
    • Beat in the egg, sour cream, and vanilla extract just until blended.
  3. Assemble the Wontons:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and ½ cup water to create an egg wash.
    • Place a wonton wrapper on a work surface and brush all four edges with the egg wash.
    • Spoon 2 teaspoons of the cheesecake filling into the center of the wrapper.
    • Bring the corners of the wonton together to the center and pinch to form an “X,” ensuring the edges are sealed.
    • Place the folded wonton on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap to prevent drying out.
    • Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. Fry the Wontons:
    • Add 1½ inches of vegetable oil to a large wok or deep pot and heat to 375°F (190°C).
    • Fry the wontons in batches, about five at a time, turning occasionally until golden brown.
    • Remove and drain on a baking sheet lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.
  5. Serve:
    • Arrange the warm wontons on a serving platter and drizzle with the prepared strawberry sauce.
