For the Apple Fries:

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Cooking spray

For the Dipping Sauce (optional):

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apples:
    • Peel apples (optional) and slice into 1/2-inch wedges. Remove cores and seeds.
    • Mix cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Set Up the Breading Station:
    • Place flour in a shallow dish.
    • Beat eggs in a second dish.
    • In a third dish, mix panko breadcrumbs with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Bread the Apple Slices:
    • Coat each apple slice in flour, shaking off excess.
    • Dip into beaten eggs, letting excess drip off.
    • Press into the panko mixture to coat evenly.
  • Air Fry the Apple Fries:
    • Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes.
    • Spray air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray.
    • Arrange apple slices in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
    • Spray tops of apple slices with cooking spray.
    • Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  • Serve:
    • While warm, sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
    • Serve with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
