For the Apple Fries:
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Cooking spray
For the Dipping Sauce (optional):
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples:
- Peel apples (optional) and slice into 1/2-inch wedges. Remove cores and seeds.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
- Set Up the Breading Station:
- Place flour in a shallow dish.
- Beat eggs in a second dish.
- In a third dish, mix panko breadcrumbs with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Bread the Apple Slices:
- Coat each apple slice in flour, shaking off excess.
- Dip into beaten eggs, letting excess drip off.
- Press into the panko mixture to coat evenly.
- Air Fry the Apple Fries:
- Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes.
- Spray air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray.
- Arrange apple slices in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
- Spray tops of apple slices with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve:
- While warm, sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Serve with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
