Description
This Cajun beef pasta is a hearty, flavorful dish that combines tender beef, a creamy Cajun-spiced sauce, and perfectly cooked pasta.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz (340 g) pasta (penne or fettuccine recommended)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef or thinly sliced beef strips
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup beef broth or chicken broth
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust as needed)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Boil the pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining, then set aside.
- Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef or beef strips and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the diced onion and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
- Add Spices: Stir in the Cajun seasoning and smoked paprika, allowing the spices to toast slightly for enhanced flavor.
- Make the Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and broth, stirring to combine. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then add the pasta. Toss to coat everything in the sauce. Gradually stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Use reserved pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency, if needed.
- Season and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.
