Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for topping)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Toss blackberries with 1 cup sugar and lemon juice in a bowl; set aside.

  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  • Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to dry ingredients; stir to form a batter.

  • Pour batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Spoon blackberry mixture evenly over the batter without stirring.

  • Sprinkle extra sugar on top for a sweet, crisp finish.

  • Bake 40–45 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
