Ingredients
For the Filling:
- 4 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 3-quart baking dish with cooking spray.
2. Make the Filling
In a bowl, gently toss blackberries with sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
3. Prepare the Crumble Topping
In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Assemble and Bake
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the blackberry filling, covering the berries completely. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling at the edges.
5. Cool and Serve
Let the crumble cool for about 10 minutes to allow the filling to set. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent finish.
